2016 is the year everyone wants to be over. So many events this year rocked us as a nation and a people. Usually when I’m feeling low, I listen to more pop music than usual. I think this year’s top list reflects that trend. There were so many great singles this year that I had quite the struggle editing down list. This year’s album list is a reflection of the struggles and hopes we all felt this year. Enjoy 2016 in music:

The top of album this year, like most years, came as a surprise. AURORA came up on my Spotify Discover Weekly list like so many of my favorite tracks this year. When I first heard “Warrior”, I was instantly hooked. The album unfolds like a journey though a dark wood. “Running With The Wolves” is by far one of the most thrilling pop songs of the year. The album is a absolute reflection of the depression, hopefulness and pain felt in 2016 and thus a perfect fit for top album.
