MUNA is one of the most evocative and original pop bands coming out of LA. After meeting at USC, Josette Maskin, Katie Gavin and Naomi McPherson starting playing together and self-released an EP in 2014. They have since signed to RCA, put out the critically acclaimed The Loudspeaker EP and even had their own Spotify Sessions EP. I talked with the girls about signing to a major label, their idols and upcoming album.

Interview With Clairity

At only 19, Claire Wilkinson aka Clairity has released her own EP, written with Kesha and been featured on shows like Teen Wolf. Her single “Velcro” made our top tracks of 2015 and we have been loving her ever since. Her evocative songwriting speaks to the outsider in us all. I got to speak to Claire about her newest track “Words Like Weapons”, her musical heroes and her what it’s like listening to yourself on TV.

This past June I had the joy of interviewing Ji Nilsson about her single “Perfume”. The hauntingly beautiful musician released her first EP, “Blue Is The Saddest Colour” last week. It contains a wonderful blend of R&B, pop and electronic sensibilities. The EP features hit song “Heartbreakfree” as well as new tracks “Nothing” and “Special Kind”. I chatted with Ji about the EP, writing gender-neutral songs and her plans for the rest of 2015.

The show stars Krysten Ritter of B—- in Apartment 23 and Breaking Bad fame. A dark noir tale, Jessica Jones offers up a fresh take on the Marvel Cinematic Universe that is well worth a viewing. 10 Women of Comics Who Need Their Own Shows

With Supergirl coming out this fall, I started thinking about the ladies of comics that deserved their own shows. There haven’t been many comic adaptation shows led by women. The only remotely successful shows were the recent Agent Carter, the 70’s Wonder Woman show, Witchblade and Birds of Prey. It’s more important now than ever that shows like Supergirl succeed to show Hollywood that female-driven stories can be successful and fantastic.
